Dan and Sonia first began teaching together in the 2010s while leading a small group Bible study at a local church in town. For years, God was quietly working in both of their hearts as they poured into others through relational teaching and Bible study, helping believers grow deeper in their faith.
A decade later, God led Dan to step away from his formal ministry position, stirring something new in his spirit. Around the same time, Sonia—working as a CPA—also began to sense God’s call into ministry. She stepped into seminary classes, unsure of exactly where God was leading, but confident that her passion for teaching His Word was part of her next step.
In the summer of 2025, Dan and his wife, Debbie, met with Sonia and her husband, Javan, to share a vision: the birth of a new kind of church in Titusville. This would be a church where men and women shared leadership, where people of every background, young and old, could be released by the Spirit to do the work of building the church. Dan invited Sonia to join him in pastoring this new church plant—The Gathering. What Dan didn’t know was that God had already placed him and this vision on Sonia’s heart weeks before. Without hesitation, she said, “Yes, let’s do it.” That very day, they prayed together, asking God to open a door for a meeting place in Titusville.
By July, vision meetings had begun. In August, The Gathering held its very first home worship service with 25 people. Each week God added to their number, and before long, the living room could no longer contain them. As they prayed and searched for a new space, God provided—a facility on Harrison Street which was available on Sunday mornings. On the final Sunday of August, The Gathering officially moved into its first worship space.
From the very beginning, God’s hand has been evident. Every time we gather, we sense His pleasure as we share testimonies, pray for one another, worship, and hear the teaching of His Word. Though The Gathering is still in the process of becoming fully incorporated, the church has already secured nonprofit status in Florida and continues to grow in both size and mission.
We believe God will continue to provide every gift and resource needed for The Gathering Church to be a blessing—not only in Central Florida but far beyond.
